Customs and Culture

Customs and Culture

At Heaven Funerals, our family heritage spans Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Asia, Africa, and Europe including Māori, Samoan, Chinese, Scottish, Portuguese, and more. We understand how deeply culture and custom shape the funeral process. While families from New Zealand and the Pacific Islands may expect a quicker return of their loved one, timeframes in Australia can differ. With extensive experience in both local arrangements and interstate and international repatriations, we work diligently to help reunite your loved one with family as promptly and respectfully as possible

With over 50 years of experience in Australia and New Zealand, we have supported Buddhist, Sikh, Hindu, and Christian families. As a multicultural team, we respect all traditions and work closely with each family to honour their wishes in a meaningful way. Heaven Funerals can arrange cremation, memorial, or burial services at a range of venues, including our intimate onsite chapel, churches, and council memorial parks. We also offer options at golf courses or clubs that reflect your loved one’s interests. Our goal is to guide you in creating a farewell that truly reflects their life, culture, and values.

Ethnic Minister Referrals

If you’re new to SEQ and haven’t connected with a church or community group, finding the right people for a funeral can feel daunting. We’ve built strong relationships with local cultural and community leaders, so we can guide you to the right support when you need it most.

Marae Referrals in New Zealand

With our Māori background, we understand
the cultural needs (tikanga) of whānau.
Through our partnerships with a number of
funeral homes in New Zealand, we can help coordinate Tangihanga and repatriation to
ease the burden of losing a loved one.
