At Heaven Funerals, we deeply understand Hindu families’ needs during their time of loss. Our experience extends across South East Queensland (SEQ) and New Zealand, where we have helped dozens of families say farewell to their loved ones with the reverence and respect characteristic of Hindu Funeral rituals.
Honouring the Rituals of Hindu Funerals
One of the most poignant aspects of our service has been witnessing the tender care with which women dress their matriarch in a Sari for her final journey. This act of love and respect is a beautiful testimony to the family’s devotion. Our collaboration with various Pandits in SEQ has equipped us to thoroughly understand the essential rites and prayers performed before the final cremation.
Respecting Hindu Traditions and Practices
Hindu Funeral rites often include washing the body with ghee, honey, milk, yoghurt and anointing the head with essential oils. Families frequently adorn their loved ones with a garland of flowers and ‘pinda’ (rice balls), symbolising their love and respect. Placing a lamp near the head or sprinkling water on the body are other significant rituals we facilitate with great care.
Advocating for Hindu Families’ Needs
Our role extends to advocating for Hindu families, ensuring that crematorium staff respect the cultural practices of Hindu Funerals while adhering to local health and safety laws. We’re committed to providing a space where families can grieve in accordance with their culture, ensuring every Funeral we conduct is both a respectful farewell and a celebration of the deceased’s life and beliefs.
